My Writing Style
May 15, 2009 by marina72

Questions snagged from Faye L. Booth

1. Are you a “pantser” or a “plotter?”

2. Detailed character sketches or “their character will be revealed to me as a I write”?

3. Do you know your characters’ goals, motivations, and conflicts before you start writing or is that something else you discover only after you start writing?

4. Books on plotting – useful or harmful?

5. Are you a procrastinator or does the itch to write keep at you until you sit down and work?

6. Do you write in short bursts of creative energy, or can you sit down and write for hours at a time?

7. Are you a morning or afternoon writer?

8. Do you write with music/the noise of children/in a cafe or other public setting, or do you need complete silence to concentrate?

9. Computer or longhand? (Or typewriter?)

10. Do you know the ending before you type Chapter One?

11. Does what’s selling in the market influence how and what you write?

12. Editing – love it or hate it?

Bonus questions

13. Why do you want to write?

14. Do you want to publish your work? Why?

15. Do like to write alone or do you like to work with other? Why?

litmatch.net [22 Dec 2007|02:33pm]

Came across this site and thought I would pass it along.

http://www.litmatch.net/

It's a website dedicated to matching writers up with lit agents.   I signed up and clicked around a bit, looks really good.  I'll post more on it later after I spend more time with it.  The one thing I like about it is that it has a pretty intense tracking system that keeps track of which manuscripts you sent to which agents.

Like I said, I'll post more when I get a moment, but I thought I'd pass it along.

Hi all, I'm a Kamishibai author and I just completed the second installment of a story/series I've been working on. I'd love your opinions on it.

You can get it all here:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36078057/

Free of charge. Kamishibai combines stories with art, music, and sounds. I worked really hard on the latest one, so I hope everyone enjoys it. ^_^

Sacrifice [03 Aug 2005|01:04pm]

whassup, how are you?

stars are bored above,

lights are off at my lonely party

all night long it rains about you

runnin' vodka to heat the body

windows open and air so sweet

would you come to measure my heat?

where the hell are you?...

voices pass me by

bottles empty and mirrors broken

are you perfect or am i blind?

I'm a "redbull" without the wings,

I'm a sheep in a big big city

corpses probably don't feel so shitty

I'll demise my body to you

First of all, while we are slightly changing the alternative book idea: If you would rather do the book as orignially suggested please email us with your address and we will send you additional information and start the Alternate Book Project as originally suggested. (We already have several people interested in this idea so we will still do this if you are interested in this project. :) )

If you would like to participate in both projects that is welcome as well. An update on the Alternate Book Project would be provided this week. :)

Information about the new project: The Pages Project.

Due to the enormous response and interest in this project we are contemplating an alternative idea to our original suggestion.

We're thinking that each person could mail to us their work, page or pages (any size, shape, color, anything they desire) and we will scan the pages as they arrive and post them. Creatively this allows you to use any media or medium that you want that can still be bound into a book. You can use notecards, any kind of paper, you could make a collage, or even make your own paper. 81/2 x 11 or smaller is recommended for binding reasons.

Since anybody could be sending us pages at anytime your identity will remain anonymous. We will give you our address so it will be both the mailing and return address. That will make it less expensive and faster.

Then at the end we will send everyone a complete pdf file of the project. Of course all the pages will be scanned on the livejournal anonymously and anybody can give feedback on each individual page. We will still assemble and bind the pages into a hardcover book if people are interested in having a copy of the book we will still do that for the cost of producing the book. (This way everyone would have a final copy either in the form of the pdf file or in the form of an actual book).

Based on the number of people already interested, alloting just ten days apiece for production time not counting mailing time it would be a year and a half before there was a final product if we followed the original plan. The final product would be a hard bound book.

We think people would like to see the work sooner. Also the people at the end of the book would not receive the book for an entire year or more.

For the first publication of the Pages Project the deadline is June 6th 2005.

If you are interested in being a part of the Pages Project please comment with your email address included and we will send you our address.

This would be an ongoing project so people who are newly interested can email us at midnight_confessions248 @ yahoo.com at anytime.

AGAIN:
If you would rather do the book as orignially suggested please email us with your address and we will send you additional information and start the Alternate Book Project as originally suggested.

If you would like to participate in both projects that is welcome as well. An update on the Alternate Book Project will be provided this week. :)

Hi everybody...I saw the writing, interests, and a few entries here and decided this is a good spot for me. My writing is a bit naive compared to things here, but I'm fascinated by the writing styles. I hope I can stay. ^^

In this post I am promoting my community.

It is a journalling community whose focus is on alternative journalling books, that are sent to members for their contributions and then mailed to the next person. Anonymity will be preserved in every way possible. The purpose of the books is to provide people with an outlet by which they can voice their fears, desires, secrets, experiences, whatever they feel they can't normally share with people. This idea is loosely based on Post Secret (http://postsecret.blogspot.com/). There will be a minimum of two books circulating through the member pool so that it will be impossible for people to know who they received their book from or who they are sending it to. A place to be truly human, NOTHING, is off limits.

Have you ever...? [15 Mar 2005|01:15am]

jerseygrlpoet
[ mood | creative ]

Have you ever sat down to write...
but the words won't come?
Have you ever tried to say the right thing...
but someone tied your tongue?
Have you ever had to swallow your pride...
to keep the one you love?
Only to lose them later...
when they tell you you're to easy to shove?

Have you ever craved a new beginning...
but you can't see the end?
Have you ever wanted to make things better...
but your will just won't bend?
Just to find out after all the pain...
that there's nothing left to mend?

All these failed endeavors...
and still we go on trying.
All the times we've fallen...
despite the hours spent crying.

I'm ready to keep on going...
to keep on fighting.
I'm ready to be the person...
that I know I am.

So bring on the world...
I'll take it on.
And make the best of the world...
that I am living on.

Two Sides

It's a wonderful day,
Nothing but blue skys.
It's a horrible day,
Another man dies.
The children frolick, laugh, and play,
They have parks, playgrounds, and a yard.
The children huddle with fear,
As the soldiers stand guard.
A new baby boy arrives today,
Listen to his lively cries.
Another small child is taken today,
Another family having to say their goodbyes.
A couple is joined together today,
With God as their witness.
An old loving couple killed today,
Thanks to God for his quickness.

I write this from two points of view, one is our life here in the USA, the other is life in Iraq. It just kinda came to me last night I needed another poem to send the the poetry convention this spring. It was a spur of the moment poem. It's dedicated to our troops in Iraq and the one's who may still be sent over. They are making a difference. Opinions are much appreciated.

It's been awhile sonce I've wrote and this probably isn't what everyone would expect but opinions are gravely appreciated.
UNFAIR TO HIM...
Its been awhile since you left,
I remember that day all to well.
The thoughts of us haunt me,
Past memories bind me in chains.
He's been here to old me,
The healing soul I needed to find.
He's fallen so deep in love,
And pours it out like holy water.
I've grown to love him to,
Given him whats left to my heart.
He was there when you left,
And it only seems fair to me.
But it's not fair to him,
The fact that he has to share.
The fact that he lives loving me,
Knowing I still love you.
I've grown to love him too,
Really I have.
But the love is so much different,
And it shouldn't be.
Its unfair that you haunt me,
And still hold most of my heart.
Its unfair that he has to be second,
It's unfair to him can't you see!

I am so tired of being some premeditated, cerebral decision. Tired of people enumerating their BASES for the choice they make for me.

I will not be just anybody’s rupture in a cycle that’s bound to leave me as a mere dent in his/her history. Never again.

Someday I will be the leap of faith/sudden turn to an unknown road/change of schedule/[orange slice] sa isang basong gatas/roll of a dice of someone who would get close enough to remove all the space occupied by doubt and fear.
